I swear, if I was the host of "The Price is Right", I would get fired on the first day. All of the money in the world wouldn't stop me from decking at least one contestant pegging the hype needle.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-09-51-221.png"><img title="2014-05-06 09.51.22.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-09-51-221.png" /></a>
I know the producers of these game shows want contestants who will be excited if they're called on to play, but are you kidding me? Jumping up and down and screaming? Are we to believe that these people behave this way all the time?
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-09-52-291.png"><img title="2014-05-06 09.52.29.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-09-52-291.png" /></a>
If this is what the producers want, then it must be what the viewers want. The show has been on for a very long time, so the formula must work. I guess getting the chance to win huge prizes is worth acting crazy.

Years ago, when the Lotto was still a new concept, there was sort of a game show, where a contestant would go on stage while the host spun a big wheel. A ping pong ball was in the wheel, bouncing around and the contestant would win the amount written on the slot where the ball landed.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-09-55-371.png"><img title="2014-05-06 09.55.37.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-09-55-371.png" /></a>
One night, the contestant was pretty hefty. The ball bounced around for what seemed to be an hour and finally fell into the one million dollar slot! A million bucks! The woman was so excited, about the same as a Price is Right contestant who hasn't even won anything.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-26-491.png"><img title="2014-05-06 10.26.49.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-26-491.png" /></a>
She began jumping up and down on the stage and as she did, the ball jumped out of the million dollar slot and came to rest in the slot next to it, which represented a mere pittance in comparison.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-34-331.png"><img title="2014-05-06 10.34.33.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-34-331.png" /></a>
The host had already said she had won a million dollars, but those that governed the game overruled and said that since the ball bounced out, she was only entitled to the amount designated in the slot of the ball's final resting place.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-35-381.png"><img title="2014-05-06 10.35.38.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-35-381.png" /></a>
You can only imagine how the woman felt, but there was a tremendous outcry from the viewers as well. After all, even the host told the woman she was now a millionaire. The whole thing became wrapped up in litigation and I think the woman settled for an undisclosed amount.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-28-071.png"><img title="2014-05-06 10.28.07.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-28-071.png" /></a>
I like Survivor. It's my all-time favorite game show. Most game shows last an hour. This one lasts 39 days, is full of very physical challenges, lies, deceit and enough back stabbing to keep it interesting. There are only two prizes. A million dollars to the sole survivor and $100,000 to the one contestant who got the most votes from the viewers, for being the most likeable.
<a href="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-29-141.png"><img title="2014-05-06 10.29.14.png" class="alignnone size-full" alt="image" src="https://jerrymabbott.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/wpid-2014-05-06-10-29-141.png" /></a>
I want to produce a game show that would involve wrestling, gambling, tug of war and heated debates. Oh, wait. Isn't that marriage?
See you tomorrow.
