I just listened to an entire Counting Crows CD. I will now kill myself.
I don't know why I like Counting Crows, but I do. Its certainly not the lyrics. They can be very depressing. I think I like the way the lead singer, Adam Duritz, really gets into the music. He has a very unique style and cadence that I like.
Probably my favorite song is "Round Here", but also "Raining in Baltimore". That might end the list for me because after listening to those songs, even Billy Joel's "Goodnight Saigon" seems peppy to me.
I like a full range of music, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Christian Hyms, some Contemporary Christian, Country (classic and modern) and even some clean and non-violent Rap songs
My all-time favorite artist is Billy Joel. I think I've memorized all of his songs. From love songs like "Tell Her About It" to "Lullaby", and everything in between. His songs are nearly all classics.
When my kids were young, if we went anywhere in the car, we would be singing along with all of Billy's songs. We would never run out of his hits to sing. Here's a list of my favorite Billy Joel songs:
Piano Man
Uptown Girl
We Didn't Start the Fire
She's Always a Woman
Just the Way You Are
The Longest Time
The River of Dreams
Vienna
My Life
New York State of Mind
Only the Good Die Young
You May Be Right
Honesty
Tell Her About It
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
Allentown
Goodnight Saigon
The Stranger
Captain Jack
Don't Ask Me Why
An Innocent Man
She's Got A Way
The Entertainer
The Downeaster Alexa
Say Goodbye to Hollywood
Big Shot
A Matter of Trust
You're My Home
And So It Goes
Leningrad
I Go to Extremes
Pressure
Leave A Tender Moment Alone
Get It Right the First Time
It's Still Rock And Roll To Me
See what I mean? I liked a lot of other artists, too, but Joel was and is still my favorite. My brother, Fred, was also a big fan, although I don't know if that's still true. Joel's recent tours and television appearances prove he's still the piano man. He hasn't lost a beat.
I wonder which artists are your favorites. Feel free to leave your favorites in the comment section and I'll list all of them, in order of choices in tomorrow's blog.
See you tomorrow.
