I think it would be funny if every Smart Phone had to take an IQ test. Then, we would know for sure what phone to buy.
There are so many choices in today's market, all claiming to be the best. This makes research an absolute must, prior to making a decision. Actually, since so many people are locked into a two year contract, you also have to look into the future at least 12 months.
Samsung, for example, is building a new model "G" phone, which will have a metal case (HTC already has a model with a metal case), a larger screen and so many features, that it makes buying a tablet out of the question. Microsoft is really getting into the game now, as well. They've been dabbling in the market, but are now getting serious. So serious, in fact, that they are buying Nokia.
We see tablets that have "kick stands" built-in, to add a feature not yet found on the Ipad. Plus, some of them have attachable keyboards, again something missing from the Ipad. Still, most prefer the Ipad, at least for now. Ipad users can always buy a case which has a kick stand, which makes that feature a wash because you would be crazy not protecting your new tablet.
I wonder how these tablets and more advanced Smart Phones are impacting laptop computer sales. I think they're still better for business use, power point presentations, etc.; but for day to day use, who would buy one? Gamers used to buy laptops with quad processors and video cards with vast amounts of memory, along with a keyboard with a fast refresh speed. But, with the popularity of the PS3, the serious gamers have all but abandoned the laptop.
What's next? A system that can obey your thought commands? It's already being tested and it is closer to reality than we might imagine. I think I'll stick with my Galaxy III. It works great and, with several different "launchers", I can cause it to behave like the iPhone IOS 7, or a customized Android platform. The best of both worlds.
Remember the good old days, when you just used your cell phone to make phone calls? I do, and I'm not sure which way I like it. I'll have to see what is unveiled at January's consumer electronics show in Las Vegas. Maybe someone will invent one that will shave your face while taking, or block out background noise if you're in the bathroom. I know, gross, but it happens a lot.
See you tomorrow.
