Windows to the Soul?

If the eyes are truly the windows to the soul, I'm going to put blinds on them. I don't need people looking in there.

Can you imagine staring into some celebrities eyes? What would you see? It would be what they think about most:

1. Donald Sterling - a black basketball
2. Shelly Sterling - money
3. Donald Trump - Donald Trump
4. The Utah Jazz - a win
5. John Boehner - anybody's guess

The truth is, it is very difficult to stare into someone's eyes for long periods of time. I am very good at stare downs, in fact I rarely lose, which is certainly a check mark for notable accomplishments in life.

I took a Narconon class a long time ago. It was very expensive, but I didn't have to pay for it because it was deemed to be a condition of employment, which was weird, because I was conducting business seminars. I guess that training would have come in handy if I ran across an unruly participant.

There were only two people in the class. A woman that I worked with and me. The first exercise we had to do was to sit facing each other three feet away. The object was simple. Stare intently into the other person's eyes forever. If any part of your body flinched or twitched, the instructor would say, "Fail. Begin". We did that for two days until neither of us had any physical problem. I remember starting the second day, thinking, "What, you again"?

Next, one of us had to sit down, while the other did whatever they could to break your concentration, except touch you. They could scream at you, even up close to your ear. They could insult your mama, swear like a sailor... Whatever. If you flinched or twitched, "Fail. Begin".

That was particularly difficult because she could start running as fast as she could, right at me and I had to remain perfectly calm. On her last attempt, she even lifted up her sweatshirt and had nothing on under it. I finally passed the test. We then had to learn how to question people, read their response and give the proper response.

So, if you try to stare in my eyes today, other than a stare down, I'm closing the blinds. So there.

See you tomorrow.
