No Pain, No Gain?

A recent 35 million dollar study confirms that diet and exercise are the keys to losing weight. Really?

Seven weeks ago, I decided to start exercising. I chose running, push ups and crunches. After researching a number of methods, I decided to go with three programs from Zenlabs because they give a lot of money to cancer research.

I use their C25k program for preparation in running a 5K because it stands for "Couch to 5K", for people who don't run, but get the desire to. It's an eight week program that gradually increases your strength and stamina. I'm now in my seventh week, without injury, and I can now run for 25 minutes straight!

I also use the Zenlabs programs for abs and pushup, so I cross train between runs. It looks like this; I'll run on Monday, work on abs on Tuesday, run on Wednesday, do push-ups on Thursday, run on Friday, then abs again on Saturday and take a break on Sunday.

I'm much stronger than I was seven weeks ago, I'm losing inches and feeling more confident in doing physical activities. It hasn't done anything to stop the seizures that I have. In fact, the last two days have been pretty rough.

I'm getting back on stage, for ten minutes. I started with five minutes, then seven and now ten. I'm thrilled to be able to do what I love to do. I'll continue to do ten minutes until I feel really comfortable with it, then move up to 15 minutes and continue the progression until I can headline again once in a while.

Dedication is absolutely necessary to these processes. State of mind is so important. I have to be willing to do the work when I'm home all day, alone. I could fake it and say I did it, but I would be cheating myself and who would trust me again?

Some years ago, I worked at a radio station, when there was a weight loss product sweeping the nation. The company was giving radio personalities free product, plus $300 per week to use the product and report their results. Every single person, (I didn't participate) who took the money, never used the product and reported bogus results. I couldn't do that. I'm no saint, but I couldn't cheat like that.

I'll report the results of my 5K that I will really run.

See you tomorrow.
