Rip off!

I named my WiFi after my last wife because it's never fully connected with me, it's really slow and I caught my neighbor using it.

WiFi is weird. I have what is supposed to be blazing fast Internet. Far from it. Then when I hit a certain limit, they slow it down. So, I do the same thing with my payments. When they call and ask why they have not yet received their payment, I tell them that they reached their threshold of charges, so when the Internet picks up again, so will their payments.

I really believe that if you make your phone a hot spot, you'll do just as well as an Internet carrier. How do I know? Because I've done it. Most recently, I had Comcast television and Internet. When my bill mysteriously reached $129 per month, I called them to get my bill lower.

The customer service representative said it couldn't be done. So, I told her that I wanted to quit. She transferred me to a different department, which is a customer retention department, no matter what they call it. Suddenly, voilà, $58! I dropped their Internet connection because I could use the hot spot.

I got a call two days later, from a Comcast rep who said she reviewed my account and could offer me three same television programming, with internet, for $49.99 for six months. No instalation fee, since I already had it once. Sweet! I jumped at it. I called Comcast three months later, because my dvr quit working. They told me I owed them more than $400!

It took four customer service representatives to go through the math with me, to see that I had still been charged $129 per month, plus they charged me $33 for the Internet install. She was very nice, got the bill back down and credited my account all of the over charges. I quit anyway and signed with Dish Network for $49.99 for two years, got the hopper, which I love, and got a free ipad 2. I got Internet from a different company.

Comcast was then supposed to send out return boxes which would need to be returned by the 12th of the month. I called 4 times to finally get the boxes, which I sent out the next day. In the meanwhile, I kept getting calls from Comcast demanding that I pay the $400 balance. I hung up.

Finally, I received my final bill of $800, due to the fact that I had not yet returned the equipment. I explained that I had received the boxes the day before. They said it didn't matter, that I needed to pay the $800, and when they received the equipment, they would credit my account. I hung up and send the equipment the next day.

I tracked the boxes, which required a signature, so I know they've been received and by whom. I can't wait to get my real final bill this time. If it's too high, I'm going after them in court.

I don't know about the cable company in your area, but I'll never trust Comcast again, no matter what they offer.

See you tomorrow.
