Talking to myself

I don't fear commitment. It sounds awesome. You get to wear pajamas all day and they put Zoloft in your applesauce.

Doesn't that sound great? Maybe not permanently, just when you need it. No pressure, professionals to talk to everyday and three squares. It sounds a lot like prison, but without the convicts to worry about.

Sure, there will be people who don't know who they are, or having conversations with themselves, but we already have conversations with ourselves already, right? I know I do.

Talking to yourself is a great way to get things off of your chest without uttering words that can be damaging and sometimes permanent.

My father used to talk to himself while he was shaving, which was ok, but he would talk above the noise of the Norelco, making it easy to hear what he was saying, which normally was not a good idea.

I think talking to yourself is healthy, unless there are others speaking with you in your head. Talking to yourself can help you work out issues you might think are big, but are actually smaller and inconsequential. Most of us worry about these kinds of things right about bed time. I know! I hate that, too!

Another benefit of conversing with yourself is that it makes it easier to prioritize, which in turn leads to pressure relief because everything seems much more manageable now.

So, it's not just the homeless people that have burned their brains or are schizophrenic, we all do it. The difference is that they do it in public, which we find socially unacceptable.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm losing an argument with myself and need to develop some clever comebacks.

See you tomorrow.

Click on Jerry's Books link on the right to check them out. They're going to Amazon, so I won't be able to set up a discount like I do now.
