Every year on my birthday, I get horrible heartburn. I think next year I'll remove the burning candles from the cake before I eat it.
Acid reflux is the worst, is it not? I spent a miserable night last night, unable to sleep as a result of it. I ran out of acid reducer tablets, so I tried to make due with Tums. Bad move. I finally had to get up and drink a mixture of baking soda and water, always a treat, and sleep in my recliner. Ugh.
As much as I love my recliner, it's just not as nice as my bed. There have been times when I had to sleep in the recliner, like after surgery. I found that was the only way to get any rest.
When it's just a normal day for me, and it hits me hard, it's just awful and I know most of you have been there, so you know what I'm talking about. Certain medications don't work for me. Pepcid AC is ok, but doesn't last very long in my system. Tagament does nothing for me. The only thing that will put out the fire for me is Zantac. Not the knock off, the real, million dollar deal.
I have not tried Nexium, mainly because of the side effects rattled off on the commercials. I think I'll take my chances on Zantac. That's the way it is with most medications though, isn't it? You have to know the different side effects, if it will conflict with what you might already be taking. Some people go to the doctor for that. I go to my pharmacist. It's free, and who knows what meds you're already taking, and is schooled on drug interactions.
I guess the smartest thing, for me, is to never run out of Zantac. I know! And yet, it happens. Just brain malfunction, no doubt a side effect of another drug I take.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to figure out if I've already taken my morning meds.
See you tomorrow.
