Crazy Money

I rented a movie from Blockbuster and never returned it. Soon, I will have the only copy of "Skyfall" worth $175,000.

You're Funny! You Should Be A Comedian!

Why anyone would want to rent from a traditional video store is above my pay grade, apparently. I can't think of one good reason, now that there are so many choices. Netflix streaming, Hulu+ and red box.

It appears that the traditional video store is banking on the fact that you'll forget to return the movies on time, paying fees that dramatically increase profit margins on the movie. If you forget to return a redbox movie, it's only a dollar per day penalty. I think we can all handle that.

Streaming video is the best way to go. Video on demand is too expensive on most television services. It's easy, but it adds up fast. Netflix and Hulu+ are each only $7.99 per month, unlimited. That's what I'm talking about.

I have a rich man's taste on a Groupon budget. I can't afford to pay double the price for a movie. If I'm going to do that, why not just go to the theater and get some popcorn, too. At least you would see one of the latest releases.

The only bad part about the streaming services is that, for television, there are no CBS shows. So, I'll stick with my regular television provider, and watch the streaming movies.

As long as I can get CBS and Duck Dynasty, I'm good. I am hooked on Duck Dynasty. Every episode leaves me laughing hard at some point. It's crazy. But, that is for another blog.

The moral of this story is don't get ripped off. Look at all of the options before renting a movie or selecting television sources. If you have Directv, Dish Network or the local cable company, always switch when your commitment is finished. Then you can take advantage of the new customer promos and save money.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find a book I checked out about 15 years ago. They're getting rather rude about it.

I'll see you tomorrow.

  1. I knew that you were funny but didn't realize that you also taught life lessons. Must watch "Duck Dynasty." I'm shamefully hooked on "Lizard Lick Towing."
