Fat

Cookie pieces contain no calories because the process of breakage causes calorie leakage.

There are so many opinions about weight loss. Who can you believe? Infomercials spew out the amazing effects of miracle drugs, super foods, juice makers and magic weight loss machines.

Bowflex machines, ab machines, liposuction, laser treatments, cleansing fasts... What do you choose? B12 injections, hydroxyzine, body for life... Subway, Jenny Craig, Weight watchers, Nutrisystem... Running, crunches (I don't think I'd want to do anything that involves the word "crunch". Sounds painful)

It's all so confusing. I'm of the opinion that eating moderately and exercising moderately, like taking a walk, and I don't mean a Nazi-looking power walk. Walk the dog, walk around the park, the mall, the track, the neighborhood, etc.

I find that if I intake a balance of protein and carbs and do a little exercise, I lose weight and feel fine. Right now, I'm not in that mode. Sometimes, I just can't exercise because I have seizures. Yesterday, for example, I decided to sweep out the garage while my wife was at work and the car was gone.

I was just finishing up, when I was awakened by a rather large group of medical personnel. It was too much, too fast. Fortunately, my neighbor found me and called 911.

My point is, it all depends on the individual. I think it's a great idea to ask your doctor, who knows what your body can or cannot handle, before training for the iron man competition.

After yesterday, for example, I'm not going to attempt any outside activity without a partner. We all need to figure out what works best for us.

Some people get a lap band (I think that's what it's called), and it works for them. Others gain the weight back. My theory, based on a great book I read, "The Gabriel Method", is that we have to find out what the body fat is attempting to protect us from. Once we figure that out, our eating habits will change automatically. I know it sounds simplistic, but I lost 75 pounds with this method, while laying on the couch, sick.
We try what we think will work. We always have, and we always will. One thing is for certain. Whatever we choose that works for us, we must be prepared to do it for life. If not, our weight will return, along with more.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I see a chocolate donut with my name all over it.

See you tomorrow.
