Seizures

My hands shake so bad, I got a job at Home Depot, as a paint mixer.

Seizures are very strange. One minute you're doing something, the next thing you know, there are paramedics asking you questions.

I'm not even aware of what just happened, in the first place, let alone where or who I am. Mind you, our EMTs do a great job, and get there fast. It's just really strange being on the other side.

They always want me to go to the hospital, which is protocol, but I never go. Actually, I think I've gone twice. Once, while talking to my friend and pharmacist, I dropped like a rock and hit my head pretty hard. I was released, which was not a surprise to me. I was sore for a few days, but not bad.

The last time, I hit my head again and stopped breathing. A nurse was there to perform CPR, for which I was very grateful. I've heard if you don't breath, there can be some adverse effects.

I hope the changes in medication will help. We'll see. In the meantime, I'll continue to make lemonade, which is not hard for me to mix.

I'm very thankful for all of the friends, family and strangers who continue to help in so many ways.

Now, if you don't mind, I have some paint to mix.

See you tomorrow.

  1. Jerry, I feel for you. We seem to have a lot of health issues at our house, in fact, the ambulance/firetruck left a mudstrip where it laid a patch on our lawn just this weekend. You start having a real sense of humor about life and the possibility of the opposite. You start being comfortable with being poked and prodded by medical personnel, and appreciating the fact that the new wing of the hospital has bigger windows than your last room... Anyway, I am sorry you have to worry about this on a daily basis, but the humor must help. A friend of ours wore a helmet around town for years to prevent a head injury when he went into a seizure. That was 20 years ago, and he has no helmet now- hope that is encouraging.
